Assistant Professor of Italian Studies The Department of Languages,
Literatures, and Cultures at the University of New Hampshire invites
applications for a tenure-track position in Italian Studies. Open
field (medieval to early modern preferred), with the ability to
contribute to a curriculum that ranges over eight centuries of Italian
history and culture. Sub-specializations may include Italy in
European, Mediterranean and/or global contexts, immigrant culture,
regional culture, critical theory, women's studies, pedagogy, and
instructional technology. The Search Committee seeks candidates with
both the ability to teach courses across a broad intellectual and
historical range, the willingness to participate in Italian program
development, and a commitment to work with culturally diverse
communities. Interest in administering the UNH-in-Italy Program in
Ascoli Piceno is also desirable. Requirements include Ph.D. in
Italian, fluency in Italian, strong commitment to scholarly research,
to teaching excellence, to engaged advising, and to interdisciplinary
studies. Appointments for preliminary interviews at the 2006 MLA
convention in Philadelphia will be made in early-December. Send letter
of application, a complete dossier (including CV, graduate transcript,
and three letters of recommendation), and a writing sample (maximum 25
pages) to Chair of the Italian Search Committee, Department of
Languages, Literatures, and Cultures, 210 Murkland Hall, University of
