Hi,
Due to the RAL FTS Tomcat server having to be restarted every two hours a
new version of the filetransfer script, appropriately titled due to the
fact I'm leaving today, "Jamie Ferguson Memorial" version which includes a
--retry option has been released.
The script is available for download as an RPM at
http://www.physics.gla.ac.uk/~graeme/scripts/|filetransfer#filetransfer
Before the script would try to submit an FTS transfer, and if the server
was down, as is occurring every two hours for a short time, then the
script would just die.
Now the script shall try to resubmit an FTS transfer n times, where n is
the argument to the --retry option. In between each retry the script
sleeps for a minute, thus if --retry=40 then the script would try
resubmitting the FTS transfer each minute for 40 minutes before exiting.
The default is 20 so if you do not use the option then the script should
retry submitting an FTS transfer for 20 mins and this should be enough
time for the service to get back up and running.
Those sites who still have their transfers to complete should use the
latest version.
Cheers,
Jamie
