For those not familiar with this hellhole, it's a "treatment centre" for children and adults with
developmental
disabilities, autism, and/or mental ill health that uses electric shock devices for behaviour
control. The Village
Voice's article leaves out much info that would have been useful (such as the fact that the
rest of the world
manages to handle self-injurious behaviour through other means--which is not to say that
it's easy, it is probably
the greatest challenge anyone working in SEN or adult services will ever face).
