Description
Cardiff University seeks a Community Archaeologist to design, manage and monitor a new outreach programme focusing on the Medieval Village at Cosmeston. Run in collaboration with the Vale of Glamorgan Council, the Cosmeston Project aims to make a significant impact on the local public’s understanding of its past through a broad programme of public outreach activities, and, potentially, a new programme of fieldwork. The successful applicant should possess the ability to do the following: to work with a range of interest groups (from school groups to research and fieldwork professionals); to engage local and national media, educational and professional institutions; to assess existing excavation archives and plan post-excavation analyses; to coordinate and manage field- and laboratory-based work; to produce reports for the research community; and to collaborate on submissions of funding applications at local, national and international levels. The post is funded for two years, though it is expected that the successful applicant will collaborate with Cardiff University to seek additional funding to allow the extension of the position.
Potential applicants wishing to discuss the position informally should contact Professor Douglass Bailey or Professor John Hines by phone (029 20874470) or email ([log in to unmask] and [log in to unmask])
