Dear Owen,
I wouldn't be so brazen as to suggest one software solution versus
another when you are in the process of defining your functional spec,
but if it would help, you would be more than welcome to come along to
the next DSpace UK and Ireland User Group meeting later this month where
there will be presentations on, amongst other things:
- Inside, Outside, Where Have We Been? The Who - of repository
development in Trinity College Dublin (along with the why, the
what and the how)
- What OR did next, or administering admins in a hosted repository
service
These two talks will look at how Trinity College Dublin went about their
repository implementation, and will showcase some of the new features of
Open Repository (a hosted repository service). They may help you
discover some of the processes that other institutions have gone
through, and some of the features in repository software to look out
for.
Indeed, if anyone else would like to attend, please feel free to get in
touch with me.
Thanks,
Stuart
