London, April 17, 2007
CALL FOR ACADEMIC PAPERS
SPORT BUSINESS IN THE 21ST CENTURY: CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES
The inaugural Sport Business Campus ’06 was an innovative and stimulating
approach to conferencing that drew on ten years experience in organising
top-level conferences and seminars for the sport business client community
and on behalf of organisations including the International Olympic
Committee. Details of Sport Business Campus ‘06 can be found at:
http://www.campus.sportbusiness.com/
For Sport Business Campus ’07, a one-day academic conference will be
launched, which is intended to bring together academics and practitioners
involved in the business of sport. This will be an excellent opportunity
for academics to present the findings of their research and to network
with practitioners and other academics.
Details of Sport Business Campus 2007, including registration fees,
venues, etc. will be available shortly. Attendees of the one day academic
conference, which will be held one day prior to Campus ‘07, will have
access to the two-day parallel sessions on April 18th and 19th.
Academics are therefore invited to initially submit Executive Summaries
(and eventually full papers) that address issues pertaining to the
management of commercial sport. Submissions falling within one or more of
the following themes will be especially welcomed:
· Commercial development of sport and sporting properties
· Strategic, tactical and change management
· Sport marketing, sponsorship and naming rights
· Broadcasting, media and technology
· Managing venues and events
· Operations, risk and security management
· Human resource management
· Finance and accounting
· Globalisation and international management
The International Journal of Sports Marketing and Sponsorship will publish
a Sport Campus special edition comprising of the best conference papers
that fit within the Journal’s mission. In some cases, papers that are not
selected for presentation at the conference may still appear in the
special edition of the journal. Further details of the journal are
available from the Editor, Dr Simon Chadwick (see contact details below)
The deadline for the submission of Executive Summaries is December 15,
2006.
The deadline for the submission of final papers is April 4, 2007.
