Hi
This is exactly how the scheme should be used, ensuring you reflect local needs. Where these appear to develop a consensus, this will be noted and a scheme amendment will be released.
Another anomaly has also been brought to my attention with regard to retention periods, can I ask for views on the following statements?
Firstly Foster Carer - you say to keep for 15 years from termination and 75 years for cancellation or refused. Legislation quoted Foster Placement (Children) Regulations 1991.
However under the Fostering Services Regulations 2002 Foster carer files only need to be retained for 10 years after termination whilst all unapproved foster Carers or withdrawn before approval need to be kept for 3 years.(Regulation 14)
Residential Homes - You have a number of activities occurring under this section including Diaries and Roster sheets. The retention period quoted is 40 years under the Childrens Homes Regulations 1991 (Reg 15 + 17)
These regulations state 15 years from date of last entry for these types of records. Besides the Childrens Homes Regulations 2001 supersedes this and
Regulations 29 echo this retention period.
Looked After Children in Care - Stated 100 years after end of service provision under the Arrangements for the placement of children (General) Regulations 1991 Reg 9.
However Regulation 9 says 75 years from DOB. This is also stated as a relevant period in Reg 28 of the Childrens Homes Regulations 2001.
Can anyone confirm the above as being the proper requirements?
Thanks for your comments so far.
Paul

Hello,
Powys County Council are also using LGCS v2.0, with some modifications, and we are also looking at classifying all policies under the Management section of the scheme.
Regards,
Nicola
