Computer Assisted Qualitative Data Analysis (CAQDAS) Networking Project
host a 2 day training event in Transana
led by David Woods, Transana developer
University of Wisconsin-Madison Center for Education Research
18th & 19th September 2006
at the CAQDAS Networking Project, University of Surrey, Guildford, UK
Transana is free software for the transcription and qualitative analysis
of digital video or audio data. Transana lets you analyze and manage
your data in very sophisticated ways, allowing you to easily transcribe
data, identify analytically interesting clips, assign keywords to clips,
arrange and rearrange clips, create complex collections of interrelated
clips, explore relationships between applied keywords, and share your
analysis with colleagues.
This training session will cover all aspects of using Transana for the
qualitative analysis of video. Topics will include preparing video for
analysis in Transana, transcription as an analytic act, identifying
analytically interesting video segments, coding, searching, data-mining,
and hypothesis testing, collaboration, and sharing data. The workshop is
highly interactive, and provides plenty of opportunity for hand-on
practice.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops. Transana
software and sample data will be provided, or you can bring your own
video in MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MP3, or WAV format.
Bring your own audio / video data and laptop with you - or work on
sample data
