Dear list members,
Postgraduates currently doing research in the history of feminism, and
anyone interested in this field of scholarly research, may be interested to
learn that a website has recently been created to serve as a space for
meeting, exchanging information (call for papers, conferences, archives) and
debating.
Entitled the "History of Feminism Network", it is also the main instrument
for coordinating the seminars of the Network's London Group. The latter will
be meeting for the very first time on 27 September 2006 in the Activities
Room at the Women's Library between 5;30 and 6:30 to discuss a paper by
Daniel Grey of Roehampton University.
Further details can be found on the site, which is accessed in the following
manner:
1. Go to:
<http://community.gold.ac.uk/login/index.php> and click on "New Account".
2. You will be prompted to fill in a very short form (email, first name,
surname, city, country, password) 3. An email is sent to the address you
have given. Click on it to confirm you want to register on "Community.gold"
4. You will then have a list of what the site calls "courses" to choose
from. Ours is "History of Feminism". When you click on that link you will be
asked if you want to "enroll" on this course. Click "Yes".
Having thus "enrolled" simply means that you are now one of the
"participants" in the site (the list of participants can be accessed on the
top left hand corner of the screen by clicking on the link) and that you
will receive an email in your mailbox every time somebody posts something on
the site (those who prefer not to have such updates can disable that
function in their "profile" - instructions on how to do this are posted on
the site).
If you have any questions about the network or any problems accessing the
site please contact Marc Calvini-Lefebvre at [log in to unmask]
