THE SEMINARS

Exploiting new technologies to create future education and training environments
DATE: Wednesday 11th October
OVERVIEW: This seminar will look at the use of emerging technologies including games, hand-held devices and simulations to create stimulating learning environments fit for 21st century learners.

Revolutionising the curriculum: ICT as an agent of change
DATE: Wednesday 8th November
OVERVIEW: Many educational establishments are using ICT to automate 20th century educational policy. The true exploitation of ICT will come through transforming the curriculum to dovetail with technologies. This seminar will provide input from forward-thinking headteachers from the education sector.

e-Learning and its impact on organisational and social change
DATE: Wednesday 29th November
OVERVIEW: Managing change is an important facet of any successful e-learning strategy. This seminar will look at managing that change and the impact on society.

Futurelab: Social software incorporating networking technologies and open source mentality
DATE: Wednesday 6th December
OVERVIEW: Social Software : Significant part of the zeitgeist or is it hype? Do teenage ramblings on MySpace merely provide an excuse for potty-mouthed behaviour - or is it a current that challenges the very notions of eLearning? Is open-source software just another way for former hippies who have become coders to bitch about Microsoft? Is there a way of making money by giving away free beer? What has a pile of leaves got to do with a text book? Are there new business models for education lurking in the answers to the above questions? Martin Owen, Director of Development at Futurelab will provide answers to these questions and many more...
