SALT INNOVATES.

Peter Barry Poetry Wars
Poetry Wars describes the battle at the National Poetry Society during the
1970s between radicals and conservatives, which had lasting effects on
British poetry. Myths and anecdotes about these events have long been
circulated, but this is the first detailed account of what happened, based
on archival sources, and told by a writer who knew many of those involved.

Andy Brown Fall of the Rebel Angels: Poems 1996-2006
This selected poems drawn from over a decade of writing confirms Brown's
place as one of Britain's most interesting and exciting younger lyric poets.
Notable for its ecological concerns and fascination with the natural world,
Brown's work is both innovative and accessible. He is also a notable teacher
of creative writing and holds a prestigious Senior Lectureship at the
University of Exeter. Learn more.

Melanie Challenger Galatea
In Galatea, her first collection, Challenger casts a poet's sensitive eye
across the hours of a tumultuous century to create startling poems whose
voiceoresolute, compassionate, originaloboth celebrates and mourns the
tensions of human nature. Drawing her themes from the Pygmalion myth,
Challenger portrays her subjects in trembling poise between action and
inaction, consummation and defeat. Learn more.

Giles Goodland Capital
This book attempts to do something lasting with the dross of our daily
lives: the ephemeral and momentary productions of the media, especially
newspapers, magazines, and journals, are transformed into poems that draw
the connections that have strung us all across recent history, doing much
more than the word ecollagei usually implies. These are poems that join the
dots, fill in the gaps, and suggest how poetry can once more be a tool for
critique and engagement with the world as it is. Each poem tracks a
different aspect of Capital over the recent past, with the proviso of using
none of the author's own words, and using one quotation from a different
periodical source per year. Learn more.

Cheryl Savageau Mother/Land
In Mother/Land, Savageau weaves traditional, personal and family stories,
with stories of colonization and resistance, revealing a landscape of trees,
ponds, rivers and mountains rich in meaning for Abenaki people. Mother/Land
is beaded with gems from her motheris jewel boxopoems that tell stories of
her mother's life and death, and the complexities of love and survival.
