The following, from
http://www.helsinki.fi/collegium/Application%20procedure/announcement2007.htm,
was brought to my attention by Paula Hohti, formerly of the Material
Renaissance project, who currently has a research post at the Collegium.
More information on the Collegium at
http://www.helsinki.fi/collegium/eng/home.htm.

The Helsinki Collegium for Advanced Studies is an independent institute
of the University of Helsinki which conducts cutting-edge research in
the humanities, social sciences, law, behavioural sciences and theology,
promotes interdisciplinary interaction, and supports international
research cooperation.

The Helsinki Collegium for Advanced Studies invites applications for

8-12 researcher positions

The term of office for successful applicants will begin on 1 August
2007. The monthly salary will depend on the assessed job demand level
and personal work performance. The Board of the Helsinki Collegium for
Advanced Studies will determine the length of the appointments for a
fixed term of 1 - 3 years based on the research plan of each applicant.

Applicants best able to meet the requirements of the post will have a
doctoral degree, previous research experience in the humanities and/or
social sciences, and the ability to work in an international scholarly
community. The working language of the Helsinki Collegium for Advanced
Studies is English.

The Collegium will appoint applicants who are at different stages of
their academic careers. It will aim to allocate three or four researcher
positions to research on solidarity. If some of the applicants
specialising in research on solidarity wish to establish a research
group at the Collegium, they should specify the composition and research
topic of this group in their applications.

Application forms and instructions are available from the Registrar of
the University (Yliopistonkatu 4, ground floor), from Student
Information and Counselling (Fabianinkatu 33, ground floor) and online
at www.helsinki.fi/collegium .

Please address six copies of both the application and its enclosures to
the Board of the Helsinki Collegium for Advanced Studies and send them
to the following address: Registrar of the University of Helsinki, P.O.
Box 33 (Yliopistonkatu 4), 00014 University of Helsinki, Finland. The
application deadline is Wednesday, 13 September 2006, at 3:45 p.m.
(local Helsinki time). Decisions will be announced on 22 January 2007.

For further information, please contact Maria Soukkio, Academic Advisor,
[log in to unmask] .
(July 8th-30th questions should be addressed to
[log in to unmask] and August 12th-20th to
[log in to unmask])
