FMR 26 : Palestinian displacement – a case apart?
The latest issue of Forced Migration Review includes a major feature on
Palestinian displacement. http://www.fmreview.org/palestine.htm
The 72-page magazine – in full colour – includes 28 articles by UN,
Palestinian and international human rights organisations, Palestinian scholars
in the diaspora, and Jewish and Israeli activist groups. Articles examine the
root causes of the displacement of Palestinians, the consequences of the
failure to apply international humanitarian law in the Occupied Palestinian
Territory, and Palestinian entitlement to protection and compensation.
This issue also includes 13 ‘non-theme’ articles on a range of subjects
including Mediterranean migration, offshore deterrence, rule of law in Sudan,
education in Darfur, returnees in Burundi and strengthening the voices of
refugees.
Hard copies of the English edition will be available in late September – and
will be followed by Arabic, French, Spanish and Hebrew editions.
We are very grateful to the following for their contributions towards the
production and distribution costs of this issue: the A M Qattan Foundation,
DanChurchAid, Interpal, Jews for Justice for Palestinians, the Norwegian
Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Save the Children (UK), the Sir Joseph Hotung
Programme on Law, Human Rights and Peace Building in the Middle East, the
Sultan of Oman and the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees
(UNRWA).
Thanks to donor generosity, we plan to significantly increase our usual print
runs in order to contribute towards improving international understanding of
the nature of Palestinian displacement. Perhaps you could help us to maximise
impact of this issue of FMR?
If you would like to receive a hard copy for your organisation, or multiple
copies for distribution to policy- and decision-makers, please contact the
Editors. We will need your full postal address and indication of how many
