California State University, Northridge has announced a new position in

Russia/Soviet Union/Eastern Europe. The history department at California
State University at Northridge invites applications for a tenure-track
assistant professorship in Russia/Soviet Union/Eastern European history
to begin August 2007. Candidates must have a strong commitment to
teaching and scholarship, and be prepared to teach upper division
courses and undergraduate and graduate seminars in the history of
Russia, the Soviet Union, and Eastern Europe as well as surveys of world
history. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue and publish
significant and on-going scholarship, make professional contributions to
the field, be involved in university service, advise students, and
assist in the preparation of K-12 teachers. Candidates should
demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching a diverse student population
and to linking their research and scholarship to their teaching. Normal
teaching load is 12 units per semester, although a reduced teaching is
available for the first year of appointment. Applicants should mail a
