Call for papers: San Francisco, CA April 17-21, 2007
GENDERED POST-SOCIALISM
Organizer: Marianna Pavlovskaya, Hunter College
The collapse of the soviet regime has triggered a profound and contradictory
restructuring of gender relations that is both liberating and deeply conservative. While
anthropologists, sociologists, political scientists, and economists have paid attention to
gendering of the transition economic, social, and cultural outcomes, geographic research
on gender in post-socialism is relatively scant. This session looks for the newest
insights into the emerged and emerging gender regimes in economy, society, politics, and
culture.
If you are interested in presenting such a paper, please notify Marianna Pavlovskaya
([log in to unmask]) about your intent as soon as possible and email me your
abstract by September 30.
