John, we have been having a discussion on another list and I'd like to
solicit your comments. The easiest thing would be to just paste a
relevant section below.

. . . that about 4% of the population being sociopaths, and could
mention that the Greg Palast article, just posted, put the number of
millionaires in the US at 7.4 million, or 2.6%. Do you suppose there is
a connection?

It seems more than probable . . .
Look at the division of wealth in Venezuela.

Social Class % of population
AB Upper Classes 4%
C Lower middle Class 15%
D Working Class 23%
E Working Class/Poor 58%
___________ ______________
Total 100%
This is what elite-rule gets you. No middle class. It's what is in
store for the USofA.
And we could mention our discussion about self-rule vs. elite-rule. Is
there anybody here -- ANYONE? -- who believes that the elite are the
smartest, best qualified and should rule, after taking a gander at the
Bush administration, not to mention the elite that have for decades
been shoving humanity down an irreversible path leading to extinction?
And then I could mention that this elite-rule thing is taught at
university, PhD level, to give it some legitimacy, and point to the
fact that in order to take a stand against elite-rule you have to admit
that you and I have been lied to all our lives about the whole
"Philosophy" thing. It's all a fraud. Machiavelli, Burke, Hobbes,
Spencer, and Leo Strauss - they are all hucksters posing as prophets.
The fact is, "Students discover from the anthropological record that
empathy, cooperation and mutual aid were the hallmarks that nurtured
human evolution -- not aggression." Summing up such wisdom Edward Hyam,
virtually unknown, came closer to the truth: "Capitalism turns men into
economic cannibals, and having done so, mistakes economic cannibalism
for human nature."

Teaching elite-rule in college is tantamount to offering a PhD in
witchcraft and voodoo. Some would argue that a deception like that is
just impossible; too many people involved, it couldn't work. But, I
say, how do you explain the whole world claiming that the US is a
"democracy" then? That's an even bigger fraud, but it has worked very
successfully.
If there are 4% sociopaths in the US that means there are 11 million of
them running loose. I suspect that they could put a hell of a dent in
the way the public thinks about elite-rule and a whole lot of other
things. And if you look into the definition of "neoconservative" you
find that lying and deceit are their most honored tools; it's their
field of expertise. You think neocons might be sociopaths?

. . so, the question is - how many sociopaths can we expect to find
in the Bush administration or amongst the neoconservative population?
(we defined sociopath as having no conscience; lack of empathy)
Books mentioned have been:
The Mask of Sanity by Dr Hervey Cleckley, 1941
The Sociopath Next Door
M. Scott Peck's book, 'People of the Lie',
