Hi, Alison. You're right I didn't mean to email the whole list but I'm
glad you think it sounds interesting so I hope people don't mind
hearing about the book.
Yes, internment is a big part of the book and the focus of the talk I
will be giving on Monday. The book features in particular two men who
were interned in 1940: I quote extensively from the letters of Ludwig
Baruch, a young German-born Jew who was interned because of his Soviet
sympathies, and I also tell the story of Decio Anzani, an Italian
tailor and anti-fascist campaigner. Both were on board the Arandora
Star when it was sunk by a German torpedo in the summer of 1940.
I hope that helps. Feel free to ask any further questions.
Best wishes
Midge
