Lecturer in German (Fixed-term)
Applications are invited for the above post in the Department of German Studies at the University of Nottingham, which is one of the leading German departments in the UK with top ratings for research (5* in RAE 1996 and 2001) and excellent ratings for teaching.
The successful candidate will conduct high-level research in any area of German literature, culture, media, history or politics and participate in the Department's research culture. Their teaching portfolio will include post A Level German language teaching (including final year translation into English), as well as non-language modules based on their areas of expertise and research. They will also teach undergraduate modules in German history, politics or media and will share in the academic administration of teaching in the Department.
Candidates should have a PhD and innovative research publications for potential submission in the RAE 2008. They should have experience in teaching German language at university level to native speakers of English and should be able to provide research-led teaching in non-language modules in the Department's undergraduate syllabus. The Department would welcome applications from early career researchers.
Salary will be within the range £28,849 - £38,772 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience (salary can progress to £44,947 per annum, subject to performance). This post is available from 1 February 2007, will be offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of three years and is open to job share.
