There will be a meeting of the DCMI Kernel Metadata Working Group
14:00 - 16:00 on October 4  at DC2006 in Manzanillo.  The meeting
is open and all are welcome.

A draft agenda follows.  Working group members are encouraged to submit
additional items!  The meeting will consist of working group business
followed by brief presentations, discussion, and revision of the workplan.

	DC Kernel Metadata Working Group Meeting, Manzanillo, Mexico

		Tuesday, 4 October 2006, 14:00 - 16:00

A. Review current status of the working group and summarize various offline
activities of working group members (there hasn't been much online activity),
notably those reported at from the Metadata Tools for Digital Resource
Repositories Workshop (at the June JCDL meeting in North Carolina) [1]

B. Discussion of the proposed Kernel Application Profile [2], which working
group members are strongly encouraged to review and provide feedback on.

C. Discussion of the proposed relationship between the Dublin "Kernel"
elements, the Dublin Core elements, and the Dublin Core Abstract Model.
 
D. Brief presentation by Alistair Miles, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory,
on SKOS (Simple Knowledge Organisation System) [3] and its possible
relationship to simple Kernel metadata,

E. Brief presentation by Jane Greenberg, School of Information and Library
Science, UNC, on possible collaboration with the DC Tooks working group.

F. Discussion and revision of the workplan, assignment of tasks and
deadlines.
