Home Office Counter-Terrorist Strategy This site is maintained by the UK Home Office it draws together government information on British counter-terrorist measures. It provides free access to press releases, legislation, statistics and full-text government papers and documents relating to all aspects of the fight against terrorism. This includes: lists of government department responsibilities, civil defence documents, information on border security, lists of outlawed terrorist groups, information on infrastructure protection and resilience and emergency contingency planning. Users should note that some documents are in PDF format and therefore require access to an Adobe Acrobat Reader for use.

UK Resilience Uk Resilience( formerly known as the News Co-ordination Centre) is a public information service of the British government which was established in September 2000 as part of the Civil Contingencies Secretariat. It aims to act as a central information service for all official government news about disasters, emergencies and crises in the UK. Its website contains information on the role and work of the body. It also provides access to the most recent press releases. Typical topics covered include: travel advice, computer virus alerts, terrorism threats, air and train crashes, severe weather warnings, flood alerts, natural disasters, security risks and animal diseases (such as Foot and Mouth).

RUSI: Homeland Security and Resilience Department The Royal United Services Institute for Defence Studies (RUSI) is an independent body which acts to debate and research issues related to all areas of defence and international security. The Homeland Security and resilience department provides a forum for researchers and system providers in UK national security, defence and emergency preparedness. The website provides access to press releases, discussion forums, analysis and some full-text papers discussing British security, counter-terrorist measures. Topics covered include: terrorism in London, security measure assessments and the terrorist attacks of 2005. Also provided are recent tables of contents from its journal HSR Monitor.

Metropolitan Police Anti-Terrorism Reports and News.
Metropolitan Police Authority was established in 2000. Its role is to oversee all aspects of the policing of London. The official website provides details on the purpose, organisation of the body and its current activities. It incluudes recent press releases, calendars of forthcoming events and access to some full-text reports. Typical topics covered include: policing strategy, crime in London, London police forces and crime prevention programmes.

Chatham House Chatham House was founded in 1920 (as the Royal Institute of International Affairs) to stimulate debate and research on important developments in the international arena. Its website ontains details about the Institute, its members, publications and recent events. Some documents can be viewed online, others are offered to subscribers only. All aspects of British foreign policy and international security are covered, including US foreign policy and the 'war against terrorism' and the Middle-East conflict.

Home Affairs Sixth Report: Terrorism and Community Relations This site provides access to the full-text of Home Affairs Select Committee Sixth report session 2004-5 which was published in April 2005 HC 165 session 2004-5. It examines steps taken by the UK government to prevent terrorism in the wake of 9/11. This includes coverage of the legislation contained in the Anti-Terrorism, Crime and Security Act 2001. A particular area od concern is the impact of the act on relations with an d images of Britain's Muslim community. Users should note that the full-text of the paper is in PDF format and therefore requires access to an Adobe Acrobat Reader for use.

Campaign Against Criminalising Communities The Campaign Against Criminalising Communities (CAMPACC) is a Uk group which seeks to campaign against Terrorism Act 2000 and the Anti-Terrorism, Crime and Security Act 2001(ACTSA)which it regards as infringing civil liberties in the UK. It is also particularly concerned with the use of Anti-terrorist legislation in the context of the 'war against terrorism' and the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The website provides information on the aims of the organisation and its activities. It includes press releases, articles and campaign materials published by the group. Topics covered include: critiques of the detainment of terrorist suspects without trial (including those in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba) and the detainment of refugees and asylum seekers.

Lancaster Index to International Defence and Security The Lancaster Index to International Defence and Security is a leading index to journal articles and monographs dealing with military and security affairs. It includes government and commercial publications. Topics covered range from defence policy, military strategy, procurement, training, personnel, military history to peace studies, terrorism and conflict research. Contents are largely based on the holdings of Lancaster University Library.The online version is offered to subscribers only, although a small selection of sample records can be viewed. The index is published by Military Policy Research.
