Assistant Records Manager
1 year fixed term appointment (part-time) - Band 7
The Proudman Oceanographic Laboratory (POL) wishes to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated Assistant Records Manager experienced in the use of an Electronic Document and Records Management System (EDRMS), or a Library Information Management System, or the equivalent, with demonstrable expertise in user education.
The Band 7 post holder in the NERC Proudman Oceanographic Laboratory, Liverpool will be managed within the Information and Communications Group (I&C Group) but the post holder will be expected to report directly to the Information and Records Manager. The I&C Group comprises the Library service; Information and Records Management service; Press/ Communications Service and Web/Intranet service.
The position requires excellent communication and organisational skills and a flexible approach to working. A sound knowledge of MS Excel and Word is essential, as is use of e-mail. The successful candidate will need to work closely with scientific and support staff at the Laboratory and must be confident in dealing with staff at all levels
You should have a good general education to Degree level. An honours degree in Librarianship or Records Management would be an advantage. If you do not possess the educational qualifications, then you must have at least 5 years' relevant experience. You must have the ability to train and support staff and have good presentation skills. We are looking for someone with enough experience to make a positive contribution quickly, training will be offered in the use of the EDRMS as necessary.
This one-year part-time placement, starting 27 November 2006, is graded at Band 7 level. Starting salary is £18,030.00 (pro-rata). A pay award is pending from 1 July 2006. Benefits include a final salary pension scheme. Annual leave entitlement is 30 days paid holiday per year (pro rata), plus staff are entitled to 8 days public/bank holidays, 2.5 privilege days and 3.5 'accrued leave' days.
