I just listened to a short clip of Bunting (at
http://jacketmagazine.com/10/cadd-bunt.html), and I have to say that the
accent sounds synthetic to me, especially since he switches into it from the
accent with which he introduces the poem. There's some Northumbrian in
there, no doubt, but there also seems to be a bit of the stage-Scots
affectation you hear in Pound's readings.
That beard in the accompanying photograph. It looks like it gets sharpened,
not trimmed.
