Utgang means exit in Scandinavia. ('Utgang forbudt' - exit forbidden)

If memory serves me right, a Danish-built ferry which I travelled on
recently had the words (presumably Danish!) 'Utgang forbudt' on some
doors. Which appears also to be the case in relation to using this as an
indexing term.
Have a good weekend.

I guess it has to do with 'utgang' in Old English and the modern German
'Ausgang', which means 'exit'.
