Aubrey, believe me I am WITH you. In fact it's really nice to finally
find people who take this stuff seriously. I hear from my friends in
the U.S. that the president of Exxon is still claiming climate change
is a hoax ... and they still BELIEVE him. Why NOT? The guy is a PILLAR
OF THE COMMUNITY. Duh.
So please don't go thinking that I am not taking this seriously... It
was, after all, me who said "The answer to the question about how much
fossil fuel can be burnt safely is: None, without increasing forests at
the same time," (in "Peak Oil & Black Holes" -- and got no comment...
are you sure you are serious?) and I'm not even a climate scientist.
You don't have to be a scientist to know something is gravely wrong.
But meanwhile - while we are waiting to roast like peanuts in the sun -
why not broaden our scope. Who knows, we may discover something. I
think if you continue to look for SOLUTIONS, some things keep cropping
up: Hierarchy does NOT work as advertised. It's destructive. Capitalism
does NOT work. It's a mass killer. And the present money system is a
total and utter sham that wouldn't fool an educated 10-year-old (if
there was such a thing). Neoconservative is just another word for
mafia. And those are the things that drive global warming. Why is there
no discussion on this? I like your statement, "the crisis is our
passivity in the face of the collapse of common sense." Why not talk
about that? What is the cause of passivity and lack of common sense?
Can it be that our media and our corporations don't find common sense
profitable enough?

I believe that if you had a magic wand and could find such a solution,
then another similar problem would appear (Nukes?) because climate
change is not the root cause of our problems. I also don't believe in
magic wands.
Actually, because I have searched far beyond the problem of climate,
and found other problems equally urgent, I have come to view extinction
as a solution, ... even a desirable solution ... and it's looking
increasingly like our only option.

Exactly - Now there's something to start a discussion with.

have rebelled they cannot become conscious.
