Dear Crisis Forumers,
I thought you might be interested in these articles, from Alan Simpson MP,
following correspondence, after some home-truths on climate change he
offered on BBC's radio 4's Week in Westminster recently. He's a real
enthusiast for decentralised energy systems, seems to me to be unusually
well informed and puts things cogently into some broader, including
historical context. He's also sharply, critically and soundly anti-nuclear.
From my personal perspective, it's a pleasant surprise to read a
parliamentarian who's thinking laterally. Simpson, of course, has a
background as a radical Labour dissenter, with strong views on domestic and
foreign policy issues repeatedly at variance with conventional wisdoms. That
makes him an MP worth looking out for in itself.
We may, after discussion, want to post one or more of his pieces on our
website. But if anybody's got any comment for this list that could be
interesting too.
Forumers may also be interested to know that we've been sending out letters
to people in charge of UK research councils requesting them to think more
strategically and holistically on supporting climate change research (i.e
over and beyond standard 'scientific' research). This follows our failure
to receive Arts and Humanities Research Council Funding for our request for
networking funding for Rescue!History. Watch this space for further
developments.
cheers,
mark
