Hi Steve,
>>question was basically settled when an elderly neo-pagan stated 'Magicians
>>talk the walk, but shamen walk the talk. You don't see shamen talking
>>about techniques'.<<
Hmmm. Maybe I'm jumping to conclusions here, but this just sounds like the
'elderly neo-pagan' defining himself rather than ceremonial magicians. And
it sounds disparaging to ceremonial magicians - like they are all 'fake' and
shamans are 'real'? I am a member of a ceremonial magick lodge (O.T.O.) and
we hardly ever actually 'talk' about the techniques we do, we mostly just do
them. In fact people really don't seem that interested in talking about the
techniques at all, in this group, or previous incarnations of O.T.O I've
been involved with. I don't know what people are doing or thinking when they
are alone, but in the group its all about performance/participation. I also
find that in Neo-Pagan groups I've been involved in everybody just wants to
do ritual asap. I actually like analysing the hell out of magickal
techniques... but often don't get anyone to join me in that exersise - its
all 'get up and do'.
