>A direct dollar for pound comparison is meaningless - its a cost of living
>comparision which is important.
--> Amen to that.
>I think the general feeling, as you suggest, is that you can have a better

>its fine. So come out for a year on a working holiday and see if you like
>it !! (Must have Critical Care skills though !)
--> A tempting offer, but not for the time-being. Thanks. At this stage,
even a year will make a notable dent in the finances upon my return. And
there are 2 children to lug through 24 hours of flying... I have a very good
friend out there - another Emerg Consultant - whom I have promised to visit
and cannot gather the courage to face the flights...
>The other poster was right - its not nearly as good as Oz - I just got a
>phone call from a recruitment agency offering me a job there :- 300K AUD +
>25K CME + Salary sacrificing + Car + 5 weeks AL + 2 weeks CME. Who would
>come to NZ !!!!!
--> I would. I'd visit Oz on my vacations. That place is wayyy too big to
appreciate from one location anyway, while NZ is more appropriate
distances-wise, I think.
>The only thing stopping me is young children and a wife that wants to be
>close to her family.
--> Ahh, yes. I have one of those as well... Handy for baby-sitting, though.
