James Carley, The Books of King Henry VIII and his Wives (2004) offers a
superb (and superbly documented) account, with lots of anecdotes and
pictures, of royal reading, book buying, book receiving, and book owning:
his study provides a good sense of the range of books available in the
various royal libraries that Elizabeth inherited. Whether she read them or
not is, of course, a different question.
