She was certainly aware of George Gascoigne ...!
Also Thomas Churchyard (she gave him a pension) and of course Dyer,
Sidney (both courtiers who wrote and performed for her) and Spenser
(dedicated FQ). She would also have rated the writers of entertainments
like George Ferrers, William Hunnis, William Patten, Richard Mulcaster;
Sackville and Norton, as Gorboduc was performed at court; and Sir Henry
Lee, who wrote many tilting devices for her. Regarding French writers,
she knew and translated Marguerite of Navarre's poem "The Glass of the
Sinful Soul" (1544), published by John Bale in 1548.
How about checking the Royal manuscripts of the period in the British
Library catalogue? Or any records of the Royal library?
Hope this is what you meant!
