I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I've searched for results
and have so far been unsuccessful. I'm interested in any guidance relating
to the advised retention period for recodings of telephone queries i.e. our
customer services department records calls from our customers and wishes to
know how long we should be holding onto these recordings. I'm assuming
also that any paper or electonic log of a call would fall into the same
retention timescale.
We've specifically recieved a request from an individual who is asking that
all records relating to any conversations with himself are deleted from our
records. I'm not sure from a DPA or FOI point of view whether we should do
this.
From memory I believe 6-12 months was the average timescale, but if anyone
can point me to anything more specific than this I'd be very grateful.
