Dear Everyone,
The deadline for papers to the Mentorship and Mentoring Practices SIG for the American
Educational Research Association is fast approaching. AERA is an AMAZING event where
thousands of international scholars descend (this year in San Francisco) to discuss research. This
is a message from Mark Hager, SIG chair. If there is a possibility you can join AERA please do so.
Members of the SIG are very friendly and helpful and I know that you would be warmly welcomed.
If you would like to find out more about AERA events and SIGs, please visit http://www.aera.net
Mark Hager writes:
"I hope you are enjoying the summer season and any breaks or vacations you can take. It is once
again *time to submit proposals* of your research to AERA for presentations, discussion
roundtables, symposia, posters, etc. We had a very productive and engaging business meeting in
SF in April. Many thanks to all who attended and brought their fresh ideas for participation and
communications. We will be working on a web site this year to enhance sharing of info related to
mentoring research and practice. And we will host a SIG *networking*, *social *gathering, and
*recognition *event next year in Chicago. Watch for announcements.
Finally, please* volunteer to REVIEW PROPOSALS* this year. Last year we were very short of
eviewers, and a few stalwarts took on many last minute assignments to review. Participation in our
SIG is growing as is attendance at our sessions. Participation in the review process is a vital
contribution to the community of mentoring researchers and practitioners. If you have questions
about the requirements to review, please email me. I can explain the process and time
commitments. I can honestly say I have always enjoyed reviewing for the SIG - it is a great way to
learn first-hand about the variety of forms our scholarship takes and the vast ways our field has
an impact on educational experiences in the US and around the world.
So, submit your proposals - they are *due to the SIG August 2, 2006–**11:59 p.m. (Pacific Time)*
- volunteer to review, and have a great summer!"
