Ah, too hasty with my last email
I see Ian has used the list before for quite lengthy explanations
In Aug 05 on 'Librarians in the News'., and in Nov 05 'Affiliate fees'
Don't be shy now Ian as we would like to hear your views, it may help
somewhat?

Hi
Two answers in one...

I meant that no one at CILIP has a specific responsibility with time
allocated - I don't doubt one or two keep an eye on debates! I have seen
several major debates (including this one) in which no response has
appeared from CILIP while there has been at least one on FreePint in
which CILIP responses were posted. A curious anomaly!
I think that the second quoted sentence contains an unwarranted
conclusion. I accept that adjustments have to be made, but it does not
follow that the adjustments necessarily mean old tasks out in order to
allow new ones in. We could just accept the fact that new jobs are not
possible.

See my posting of 6th July: "It is a matter of record that Ian Snowley,
as Vice-Chair of Executive Board, put the case against keeping
LIS-CILIP, and I am sure that he can respond [with the arguments] better
than I."
See also my comments above. I also have gained the impression that CILIP
staff may not join in discussions. Bob told me over a year ago that they
should not do so as they would not necessarily know the appropriate
answers.
Also from the 6th July: "LIS-CILIP was set up, as will be seen from
previous discussions, for CILIP by Ian Johnson of Robert Gordons
University, and he is currently moderator."
