Dear all,
Having heard about the great success of the Digital Mediaevalist panels
at the International Mediaeval Congress in Leeds last week, it occurs to
me that we ought to organise and propose some Digital Classicist
presence at the Classical Association annual meeting (next one is 12-15
April 2007 in Birmingham). The deadline for applications is 31st August
2006 and as always panel proposals ought to be in sooner if possible to
have a chance of being slotted into the programme.
Would anybody like to suggest subjects for papers or panels on this
theme? (They do specifically invite proposals on certain topics, among
which this year is "Digitising the Classics", not an especially
inspiring title and one from which we should probably distance
ourselves...) At a minimum I'd like to have one panel with three or four
research papers showing how digital technologies advance traditional
research questions, but it may be that we have enough clout between us
to come up with more than one panel on more tightly themed subjects.
What does anybody think?
All best,
Gabriel
