Job opportunity: Research Scientist, Industrial Psychology Department, Institute for Energy Technology (IFE) / OECD Halden Project (HRP), Norway
MAN - TECHNOLOGY - ORGANISATION (MTO)
The Industrial Psychology Department is part of IFE´s MTO Safety sector, comprising 4 departments with a total of 80 employees. The overall objective of the department is to improve the safety of dynamic and complex production systems, focusing on human performance issues and organisational factors. The department performs empirical research on human potentials and limitations in operational environments, focusing both on human interaction and human-machine interaction. The results are applicable within design, evaluation and safety assessment of complex production systems. The core business of the department is empirical studies of operational safety in the MTO Labs. A substantial part of the research activities are performed within the international OECD Halden Reactor Project. Furthermore, bilateral and multilateral projects are carried out for the nuclear industry, the petroleum industry, and transport sectors such as air traffic management and railways.

Suitable educational background includes psychology and the social sciences, with degree on Master or PhD levels. We are searching for competent and motivated persons with background and an interest in one or more of the following areas:
* Human Factors and Man-Technology-Organisation (MTO)
* Human Reliability Analysis
* Human-machine design methodology and design principles
* Human factors verification and validation
* Safety assessment methods
* Experimental psychology
The applicant should further have a specific interest in developing the area of industrial/safety psychology to meet the needs of the future.
IFE/HRP offers a highly skilled, motivating and multidisciplinary work environment and international contacts within human performance research and industries. Halden is a friendly town with a pleasant climate, located 120 km south of Oslo. Salary is based on the degree of experience and formal qualifications.
