We are present on the shop floor every evening until 21:00 (at the earliest)
before handing over to the middle grade and remaining on call for the rest
of the night on weekdays. Weekends we are on call but usually reckon to be
in at least 6 hours a day, when needed, which is often early evening.
That's with 5 Consultants and an acute medicine colleague who covers 1 night
a week and only occasional weekends as a favour and internal cover for
leave. The lates are currently remunerated at the standard rate until 7pm
and the enhanced rate thereafter and the weekend Consultant takes the
succeeding Thursday and Friday off.
Best wishes
Rowley.

Subject: consultant late shifts
what late shifts are colleagues working in other emergency departments and
how often are they working these late shifts?
what weekend shifts are colleagues working and again on what frequency? do
colleagues get a day off each week or most weeks for working contracted
late /weekend shifts.
answers a.s.a.p much appreciated.
