How to Involve and Consult with Disabled People
To be held on the
Wednesday 28th September 2006
at the GLAXO Centre, Norton Street
9.30pm until 4.30pm
Recent legislation and guidance across education, health, leisure and social services strengthens the expectation that professionals will consult with disabled people about decisions that affect them, including disabled children, young people and Black and other Racial Minority Disabled People. This conference will examine the approach of how to involve disabled people, disabled children and young people in influencing policy development and services.
We will address the following:
What is consultation? What is Involvement?
Who do you consult with and involve? Who should lead?
What are the Barriers? What type of Involvement?
How can I ensure equal participation? What will it cost?
What type of Consultation? Why do it?
Who should attend:
Voluntary sector organisation who are involved in empowering disabled people their families and carers. Commissioners, managers and practitioners in services for disabled children and adults from both Health and Social Services.
This is a multi-disciplinary conference that will be relevant to professionals working in health, education, social care and voluntary sectors.
