Sure, I took the SE as an example, it happens to be the one I know

Indeed. They're supposed to coexist but can only do so if deployed in
the same - whatsitcallednow - container? And use the endpoint - the
"real" (i.e. web services) endpoint, e.g. httpg://<host>:8443/srm/managerv1
(that was the FNAL invention but everybody stuck to the same pattern
for SRM1) to let the server know who they're talking to.
Even DPM needs the SRM2 and the SRM1 on different ports.
