I would imagine that in the event that a school closes, any current records
should be transferred to the City Academy under the new contract - any
closed records i.e. old pupil files, personnel files of staff who have left
etc will be the property of the council. Is there anything in the contract
which would help you?

Dear List
Has anyone had the experience of a school closing to be replaced by a City
Academy and if so what happened to the records?
I consider the school's records to be council property and therefore should
be kept by the Council; however, it seems a bit harsh to expect the City
Academy to open with none of the existing records. At the very least I
expect the new privately run Academy to need access to pupil records. Is
it a case of establishing access rights between the Academy and the Council
or maybe to loan specific records (i.e. current pupil records) for a set
period of time?
Many thanks
Mark
