Thanks Christopher, Edmund -- gives me a point to start from.
Roger, sometimes you can be quite infuriating -- tell me on Monday.
Andrew -- I don't have any sites on Gypsies, that's partly my problem, but
if you go here:
http://www.gutenberg.org/browse/authors/b
... there are lots of George Borrow texts, including some I'd never heard
of. It has all the main ones: Wild Wales, Lavengro, Romany Rye, Romano
Lavo-Lil, The Bible in Spain, and The Zincali (Borrow's account of the
Gypsies in Spain).
Now, if someone +really+ wants to make my day, point me to where I can find
a copy of The Blowen's Cabinet of Choice Songs (c. 1830). This apparently
contains poems of such surpassing obscenity that even the British Library
doesn't have a copy.
