Heights
We walk a thin mountain path
storms shearing sun and sky
Your sidelooks catch my eyes
calibrating the distant rain
the rigid descent
You take my arm
spread my heart under its wedge
my steps tremble toward the reaches
Carry me to the steep then
to the mountain rim and rock
above the timberline
Let me gather you around me
our bodies the place
to celebrate this sweep
