Hi Sheila
Apologies for the delay in responding. We at Durham will be offering the new scheme students the same instalments and payment methods as our postgraduates and overseas students, i.e. three equal instalments due 30/14/14 days into the three terms. We are going to accept payment by any method (as currently offered to the postgraduates and overseas) but try to push direct debit and discourage credit cards.
Until we know how many are paying their own fees, it is difficult to say what impact there will be in terms of administration and processing. However, we felt that the students are paying comparable amounts (as the postgraduate fee is £3,168) and it would be unfair to insist on one group paying by a particular method. Also, we can only accept direct debit on UK bank accounts and we don't feel we can enforce this on overseas and EU students. We may have to revise this in future years depending on volumes.
Regards
Angela

Subject: Payment Terms for Full-time UG students
Hello
After going to the SLC Conference in Glasgow (a couple of weeks ago now)- I was surprised at the facts given to us by the SLC about Full-time Undergaduates who have applied for the full student loan.
50% of New students & only 25% of continuing.
At Hull we thought that a much larger percentage of students would be taking the full loan, and now we are rethinking our payment terms.
Can some of you let me know what your payment terms are, for the students who are self financed.
Thanks in advance
Regards
