Hi everyone,
Here are the list of things that we have so far for the Tier-2 workshop
storage sessions:
dCache
------
1. Disk pool draining. This already exists in the form of the CopyManager
[1] but it requires that the destination pool have sufficient space to
hold the contents of the source pool. It would be good if multiple
destination pools could be specified so that the files could be spread
over the available space.
2. Quotas for VOs. At least group quotas, but user quotas would be good as
well. This would make administering the SRM easier as admins would have
greater flexibility when slicing up their disk (rather than using the
current method of disk pools and pool groups).
3. Highlight the key components that can be tuned to increase the read and
write throughput at Tier-2 sites. For example, there are a lot of
parameters in the dCacheSetup and *.batch files, which are the obvious
ones that sites should change (Buffer sizes, queue lengths...).
DPM
---
Essentially the same as dCache
1. (HIGHEST PRIORITY) Tool(s) to allow pool filesystems to be drained.
2. Quotas for VOs.
Would anyone else like to add items to these lists? If not then I will
send the dCache list off to DESY. I think Graeme has already raised the
DPM issues with the DPM developers.
Cheers,
Greig
