Please note that this upgrade does replace 1 jar from a production D-Cache
server and so is not purely an add on release. Admins testing this on a
production service should be aware that this is a beta release and has not been
packaged in RPM format as RPM makes such naughtiness difficult in the case of
such conflicts.
If your service becomes unstable do remember the replacement of this jar and
restore all the rpms and report bugs to the storage mailing list and
[log in to unmask] so that the message get through quickly. This also
reflects the non formal prerelease nature of this functionality.
I do hope the xrootd users will be happy with the new door.
Regards
Owen

Subject: Xrootd-dCache update with readonly-feature
Dear Xrootd-dCache beta-testers,
a new version of the dCache xrootd add-on is available from the official
dCache website www.dcache.org.
From now on it is possible to restrict the xrootd-based dCache access
to readonly by simply adding 'xrootdIsReadOnly=true' to the central
setup file /opt/d-cache/config/dCacheSetup. All subsequent write
operations concerning the xrootd-doors will fail stating "Permission
denied". More detailed information can be found under /opt/d-cache/xrootd/.
Thank you all for the feedback you gave to us via Owen! Please contact
me in case of any questions!
Regards,
Martin
