Conference in Art, Nature & Environment
The RANE (Research in Art, Nature & Environment) Research Cluster at University
College Falmouth is please to announce details of a three day conference in
Art,
Nature & Environment taking place this coming July.
How can an artist create work that is both ethically responsible and valid
as art?
The 'Artful Ecologies' conference brings together some of the leading
members of
the artistic community to consider this question and related issues. Using the
established category of ecological art, the conference will present and
consider
particular examples within the framework of holistic thinking and process-based
modes of practice.
The conference will take place at the College's Woodlane campus in Falmouth. In
addition to the formal presentations and debates, delegates will be able to
explore and enjoy the local surroundings such as Gyllyngvase Beach, the
River Fal
and its estuaries, and the sub-tropical gardens at Trebah at specially
organised
evening events. These settings provide an ideal backdrop to informal discussion
and networking.
The conference will start at 4pm on Wednesday 12 July and finish at midday on
Saturday 15 July. This leaves plenty of time for delegates to explore the
region
further. There will also be the opportunity to visit the Centre for
Contemporary
Art & the Natural World, near Exeter, on the Sunday morning.
