Research Assistant in Work, Interaction and Technology
The Work, Interaction and Technology Research Group would like to appoint two full time research assistants. Both positions will involve undertaking video-based, ethnographic studies of work and interaction and using those studies to inform the design, development and deployment of advanced technologies. One position will be associated with a pan-European project, namely PalCom,, funded by the EU IST Framework VI programme concerned with ubiquitous computing in particular applied to health care and the emergency services. The second position will be associated with an EPSRC funded project that is concerned with pervasive computing support for market trading.
The successful applicants should preferably have a background in undertaking video-based studies of social interaction in particular drawing from ethnomethodology and conversation analysis. They should also have a commitment to exploring the ways in which naturalistic social science and ethnography can contribute to our understanding, and the design, of advanced tools and technologies.
If you are interested in either of these positions, could you send a copy of your CV to Christian Heath ([log in to unmask]) and Paul Luff ([log in to unmask]).
