Mobile usage of video and TV workshop
Barbara Schmidt-Belz, Fraunhofer FIT, Germany
Akseli Anttila, Nokia Design, FI
This workshop aims to present and discuss research on mobile usage of video
and TV. The workshop focuses on human behaviour, human needs, and
interaction design concerning the mobile creation, handling and consumption
of moving images.
Small, mobile devices are becoming increasingly capable of handling rich
multimedia content. We have become familiar with scenarios of taking
pictures and video clips by mobile phone. Images enrich communication and
mobile users have quickly taken to use mobile camera phones. This has
stimulated visions of mobile video/TV, and technology is advancing at a high
speed. Topics relevant for this workshop include:
· Needs of mobile users and context of use concerning video content and TV
on mobile.
· Consumption of movies/TV via mobile devices: what kind of services would
users appreciate, what requirements can be identified?
· Authoring content while mobile, e.g. Moblogs with images/videos captured
with camera phones.
· Role of personalization and contextualization for mobile video/TV.
· Accessibility for particular groups, e.g. elderly or handicapped users.
Aspects of human factors and HCI are to be addressed explicitly, empirical
studies are especially welcome.
