I was thinking only of OS X, though the line I quoted did, I

I don't know what the actual Intel chip is that they run on. At any
rate, OS X's only supported on Apple hardware, so you can't pick and
choose (Darwin will work on a broader range of hardware).
It doesn't seem at all likely that OS X will ever be supported on
commodity hardware. But then, since Apple's moved to Intel, and
they've supported dual-booting, hell has already frozen over twice
this year so far....

If you do this, make sure you get the educational discount. The last
time I checked, RAL was eligible for the FE discount, but not the HE
one, for some weird reason or other.
