The conference consists of five workshops on the 28th June which you can
register for independently from the rest of the conference. Topics
include –

e-Collaboration Workshop - Access Grid, Portals and other Virtual Research
Environments for the Social Sciences
A Semantic Grid for Social Science
New Tools and Techniques for Qualitative Research:Exploring the Challenges
and Pitfalls
User Requirements for Visualization in e-Social Science
These themes are carried on throughout the rest of the conference in the
paper sessions.
The main conference has keynotes from Malcolm Atkinson, UK e-science
envoy, e-Science Institute, UK; Noshir Contractor, Director of the Science
of Networks in Communities (SONIC) Research Group at the National Center
for Supercomputing Applications and a Research Affiliate of the Beckman
Institute for Advanced Science and Technology at the University of
Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA and Peter van den Besselaar, Professor
of Communication Science with a special chair in e-social science,
Rathenau Instituut and the University of Amsterdam, Netherlands.
There are also 4 panel sessions on:
Living Labs for Intelligent Cities
Collaboration, Computation and Community: Lessons from the music
information retrieval community
Social Networks and Cyberinfrastructure (SNAC)
Collaboration and Engagement: the use of new technologies across the
Teaching and Learning Research Programme and the Applied Education
