Dear All,
I have summarized the test made at imperial with FTS using urlcopy and
srmcp mode at
http://www.gridpp.ac.uk/wiki/IC-HEP#Transfer_Tests_2006-06-06_.28FTS_with_URLCOPY.29
In short the throughput in srm mode are much better than in urlcopy mode.
-In urlcopy mode: I could never achieve more than 130Mb/s.
The individual raid arrays are writing at ~ 60Mb/s with close to 100%
disk utilization (iostat -x).
I also got a lot of failures with " Transfer failed. ERROR the server
sent an error response: 553 553"
-In srmcp mode: 228 Mb/s. The iowait is reasonable.
The best results are obtained with 1 stream per file. 8 files in parallel.
What is not yet clear is how we could achieve close to 400Mb/s with
Phedex. It is probably due to the pool arrangement which is different
for cms than for dteam.
Cheers, Olivier.
