Job Opportunities at the Policy Research Institute
The Policy Research Institute (PRI) at the University of Wolverhampton provides high quality social research to shape policy and practice - locally, regionally and nationally. PRI staff engage in applied social research for a range of public, statutory and voluntary and community sector agencies and work with (and for) multi-agency partnerships and community groups. Three new posts are now available: a Reader/Chair in Social Policy and 2 Senior Researcher / Research Fellow posts. The post- holders will play an important part in expanding the PRI research portfolio, generating external income and in contributing towards an RAE submission in 2008. They should have expertise and publications relevant to at least one of the PRIs five core research themes, which are:
* partnership and governance
* criminal justice and community safety
* community consultation and empowerment
* social capital and community networks
* social inclusion and exclusion.

Applicants should ideally hold a PhD (or demonstrate it is near completion) and have a track record of securing funding for, and managing, policy-oriented research. Experience of team working (ideally in multi-disciplinary contexts) is essential, as are RAE quality publications. The successful applicant will also display flexibility in terms of their research methodologies and ability to contribute to the thematic areas indicated above. *In line with our pay modernisation programme, salaries may be subject to review.
Reader Chair (£35,254 - £44,328 or £45,955 - £51,854) Ref: B4286
This appointment may be at either level, depending on qualifications and experience, although a strong track record of research and publication is essential. As a senior member of the PRI team, the successful applicant will (alongside the Director) provide research and academic leadership for the PRI team, making a significant contribution to income generation and to the Institute's RAE submission in 2008. There may also be opportunities for postgraduate teaching in related fields.
